In this week’s Sparker’s Digest, the summary of an item about Naples City Council’s consideration of election timing (Item 10) misstated the proposal under consideration.
The Digest reflected the article’s title and opening paragraph, which suggested that the City Council was considering holding city elections during the August primary. City Council was instead discussing whether to move city elections to the November general election.
The article noted that the change would require a referendum asking city voters whether they support it and discussed the possibility of placing that referendum on an August ballot.
The corrected version of the item is below:
City Council considers changes to timing of Naples elections
To increase voter turnout for Naples city elections, City Council is considering placing a question on an August ballot before voters asking whether future city elections should be moved to the November general election—a change that could also save the city nearly $50,000. (Naples Press, 3/27/26)
